What do you see? Is it the same as me? Was yours just a passing glance? Did you look back? Or did you pause to ponder the possibilities from your vantage point? My vantage point came through the lens of my camera, standing on the couch of a friend, documenting beauty. But did I capture it? Is this beauty? Is beauty the vibrancy of life in the uniqueness of spring blossoms? Or is the beauty in the rich textures from the artist's touch of the brush strokes? The beauty I framed was the pop of color, the unexpected brilliance of yellow that made me smile, made my heart warm, happy. But when I glanced back at the image I had captured, that no longer was what I considered beautiful. This boy. This beautiful boy. His smile lit up your day, made your worries simply fade away. He had his own worries, but you'd never have known it. Like worrying about how to pick up his pencil that slipped out of his weakened fingers, or the simple need to blow his nose. He couldn't even lift his own hands to his face, his own body wasting away by disease. But, he never complained and he did everything thing possible in his limited world. He knew this disease was his life sentence, but no one else knew how hard he struggled because it was the love of life that he lived. The love of life in his banter, his curiosity, his gracious manner, and his encouragement. Yes, from his wheelchair prison, he encouraged us. He taught us in his short life, defining the true meaning of living. I hope the impact he made upon my life is evident in my encouragement...

Yes, this !%#&/%! dog. This dog who has cost my family $6,000 in less than a year for medical care. Stitches and orthopedic surgery to repair fingers tangled in a leash while being drug in the wet grass in front of neighbors by an enthusiastic puppy who has no knowledge of her strength. So completely humiliating...My husband called it user error-I vehemently exclaimed it was this !%#$/%! dog! This !%#$/%! dog who must be on a leash for EVERY SINGLE potty break in our fence-less backyard, who takes at least three, fifteen minute tries to find the "perfect" spot to deliver her goods; whether it is torrential rain or shine...She doesn't care that you don't have a thick, waterproof coat like hers!
